Spotted: Delivery Mileage Ford GT

A super-rare, as new example of the iconic 2005 Ford GT has come up for sale.

When you're part of Supercar Driver, you become spoiled by countless Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis and Porsches every time you rock up to an event. Make that event Secret Meet, and it's more overwhelmed than spoiled, with countless hypercars including the likes of Bugattis, Ferrari 'F Cars' and even several Aston Martin Valkyries this year. One car that's a rarity even at Secret Meet, with just two in attendance this year if my counting skills are up to scratch, is the 2005 iteration of the Ford GT.

It's a car I've always had a soft spot for thanks to its retro looks, its presence and a thunderous supercharged V8. One Mr Clarkson loved it so much he famously bought one and it's supposed to be a mega machine from behind the wheel, although I've never had the chance to drive one so can't say much about that myself! The previous owner of this GT up for sale at Romans International can't say much about that either (unless they have another one to drive), because in 18 years, it has covered just 65 miles, few enough to qualify as delivery mileage. The protective film is even still covering the sills, and I'd take great satisfaction in peeling it off!

This UK-registered car is in a beautifully subtle spec of Mark II Black with painted silver decals and silver forged BBS wheels, and has 'all four factory options' — something you don't hear from the likes of Porsche and Ferrari! The GT is still punchy today with 550bhp and 571lb ft from its supercharged V8. Its 0-62 time of 3.6 seconds probably doesn't tell the story being rear-wheel drive with a manual box, but the top speed of 205mph shows this thing has serious legs.

It's not often these come up on the market, so I imagine if you want one, you'll have to be quick. With such low mileage, it's likely this car will go to a collection where its beauty will be appreciated, but let's hope the new owner won't be shy of losing the 'delivery mileage' so that V8 can be appreciated too.
