Can the Radical SR3 XXR stand up to two heavy hitters of the supercar world, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and McLaren 750S around Anglesey?
"In a world where milliseconds matter, five seconds a lap quicker, carrying half the weight, requiring half the power, and at almost half the price."
That is what Radical Motorsport Global Head of Marketing, Jon Roach had to say following Evo's track battle between the Radical SR3 XXR, McLaren 750S and Porsche 992 GT3 RS. Evo said, "Place your bets, please. Which do you reckon will be quickest around Anglesey Circuit? A 740bhp, carbon-tubbed mid-engined supercar, an active-aero 911 with damper and diff settings you can tweak mid-lap; or a dedicated track car with a fraction of the power but also a fraction of the weight".
I'm not sure what I'd have expected. Anglesey is technical but its back straight near the coastline lends itself to a hefty dose of power, so these three massively different cars make for a very interesting match-up, each making time up in different areas, but the Radical showed that, if it's outright pace you're looking for, you really needn't spend twice the money. This quote, for me, really lands home the Radical's capability.
"There's a corner where you have to brake in the Porsche. In the Radical, you're changing up from fourth to fifth. It's a whole different ball game in terms of how late you can brake, how much speed you can carry, you have to kind of recalibrate everything."
