We visit Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works to see how the icons of the past are being restored, reborn, and reimagined by the people who built them.
If we’re talking aesthetics, the question of the most beautiful car ever made often comes up, and the answer to that question is often the Jaguar E-Type. We recently wrote about our visit to Eagle, who give their own spin on the E-Type, but there is another company bringing E-Types up to date in the most faithful way, and that is the very company that built them in the first place.
New for 2025, we visited Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in Coventry for a behind-the-scenes look into their current projects and epic heritage collection. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to restoring and upgrading classic Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Positioned as a high-end alternative to independent specialists, it offers authentic restorations and subtle upgrades performed by the original manufacturers. The 14,000-square-metre space includes 54 workshop bays and can accommodate nearly 500 vehicles, functioning like an automotive operating theatre.
Members were given a tour of where JLR Classic began, with some of their most iconic cars on show. We then moved on to the workshops and took a peek inside the unbelievable selection of cars they look after. The facility is renowned for its precision and meticulous attention to detail, producing continuation models like the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, XKSS, and D-Type, as well as "Reborn" vehicles like classic Range Rovers and Series I Land Rovers.
Alex Brundle, the championship-winning British racing driver, came in especially to speak about some of his favourite Jaguar memories, and we'll be served a buffet-style lunch to conclude our visit in the best possible way.
Stay tuned for future events, spaces are limited, and this is not one to miss.
