Supercar Driver Raises More Than £150,000 for UK Youth at Exclusive Nigel Mansell Evening

Supercar Driver members gathered for a truly unforgettable evening with Formula One legend Nigel Mansell CBE, raising more than £150,000 for UK Youth.

Hosted at Tom Hartley Jnr’s spectacular new £27 million showroom just 72 hours after its official launch, the event brought together an exceptional collection of guests, cars and stories in support of a cause that has been close to Nigel’s heart for almost three decades.

Nigel has served as President of UK Youth for 28 years and has personally donated millions of pounds to support the charity’s work. Funds raised during the evening will go directly towards the creation of a new sports centre, helping to provide opportunities for young people for years to come.

Nigel Mansell & Zak Brown

The evening was hosted by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, who generously gave up his time just days before the British Grand Prix to interview one of his childhood heroes. Zak also brought two iconic cars from Nigel’s career, his 1987 British Grand Prix-winning Williams and his 1993 IndyCar championship-winning ca, while Tom Hartley Jnr sourced the legendary Red 5 Williams FW14B, the car in which Nigel secured the 1992 Formula One World Championship.

For only the second time in history, Nigel’s Red 5 Formula One car and Red 5 IndyCar were reunited under the same roof, creating a truly historic display.

An Evening of Legends

The event itself began with an introduction from Supercar Driver founder Adam Thorby and Tom Hartley Jnr.

"When Matt asked whether we’d like to host an evening with Nigel Mansell, it took me all of five seconds to say yes. The original goal was to raise more than £100,000 for UK Youth, so we knew this had to be something incredibly special.

“Tom Hartley Jnr opening his showroom just 72 hours after launch was an extraordinary gesture. It was a huge privilege to become the first event held there following its official opening, and I’m incredibly grateful for his support".

Reflecting on the evening, Thorby added: “Supercar Driver started as a hobby, so to now be creating evenings of this magnitude is something I’m immensely proud of. More than anything, though, I’m proud of what our community achieved. Raising over £150,000 for UK Youth shows that Supercar Driver is about far more than cars”.

The evening once again demonstrated the strength of the Supercar Driver community, bringing together world-class guests, remarkable cars and passionate enthusiasts to create a memorable event while making a lasting difference to young people across the UK.
