643hp AWD Hybrid Corvette E‑Ray Lands in the UK

A refreshing alternative is ready to order in the UK, complete with right-hand drive.

Ever get fed up of forever choosing between the same European brands when buying your next supercar? Ah yes, the ultimate first world problem, to which there could be an appealing solution. The 643hp, hybrid Corvette E-Ray will soon be available in the UK, with right-hand drive, and if we’re ever going to be tolerant of electric power here, it’s when it’s merely there to bolster a 6.2-litre V8.

Pricing has always been the ‘Vette’s strong point, and the standard Stingray, with the same V8 minus the hybrid gubbins meaning just 482, has been available for a while at a very appealing £90,000. The hardcore Z06 with its smaller flat-plane crank V8 and hardcore focus is rather less tempting the wallet at £180,000, and the E-Ray sits closer to that high end, with the Coupe (with removable targa top) coming in at £153,440, and the Convertible (a proper electric folding hardtop) at £159,230.

So, it is far from cheap at nearly £10k more than the new Porsche 992.2 GTS with its very own hybrid system, although that is packing a mere 541hp. If we look more on the E-Ray’s level of power, the 630hp Maserati MC20 starts at around £227k, and the 690hp (also hybrid) McLaren Artura starts at just over £200k.

482 of the E-Ray’s horses come from it’s 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8, while a further 161 are added from an electric motor on the front axle, meaning this Corvette is actually all-wheel drive, albeit heavily rear biased. That said, it does help it crack 0–62 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

There’s even a Stealth Mode. Sounds cool, actually means EV mode, allowing up to four miles of silent, front-wheel-drive electric only running at up to 44mph — perfect for sneaking off without upsetting the neighbours for an early morning drive.

There’s a regenerative braking “Charge+” mode to top up the 1.9 kWh battery on the go, cylinder deactivation for real-world cruising efficiency, magnetic ride control, carbon‑ceramic Brembos, and staggered 20/21″ wheels. Its track is 9.1 cm broader than the Stingray, giving it a stance closer to the Z06.

Despite being officially sold in the UK, the Stingray is still a very rare sight on UK roads, even at Supercar Driver events, but now the Corvette is actually a proper mid-engined supercar, perhaps it deserves more of a look, especially with the E-Ray’s cutting-edge tech and savage power. Being able to leave your family and neighbours peacefully asleep in bed before you awake your thunderous V8 is a nice sweetener too. Think of it like a muscle-car Swiss Army knife.

The price? Yep, it’s not cheap compared to similar offerings from Porsche, but at the same time you could buy a nice daily driver with the change from McLaren’s closest offering. First UK deliveries are expected in September 2025, so if you’ve been hanging around for a right‑hand‑drive hybrid Vette, now’s your time.
