What It’s Really Like To Own An F1-Powered AMG One

Even rarer than a 1 of 275 AMG One is the chance to chat with an owner about what it's really like to live with. Well, here's that chance, enjoy.

Every hypercar since the dawn of time has been billed as “an F1 car for the road”. Usually, that means lots of carbon, some flashy tech and a steering wheel that looks like it belongs on the Starship Enterprise. But Mercedes-AMG decided that wasn’t enough. The One takes the actual 1.6-litre hybrid V6 from their Formula 1 car, complete with the F1 car's hybrid tech, bolts it into a carbon tub and sticks on some number plates.

The result is 1,049bhp, 11,000rpm and a top speed north of 219mph. 0–124mph? Less than seven seconds. It’ll even waft around in EV mode, which is hilarious when you remember it’s essentially George Russell’s weekend toy.

Inside, you get fixed-back racing seats, a digital dash, an F1-style steering wheel and serious amounts carbon. This isn't pretending to be luxurious, it’s motorsport theatre you can take to the shops.

275 were produced worldwide, so the likelihood of seeing one on the road is slim-to-none, and even throughout the Supercar Driver calendar of events, you might just see one at Secret Meet. Just one attended in 2025 — the very car we're about to touch on.

A few members own them, and one in particular, Mark, offered his car up for a Top Gear feature, and sat with Tom Ford to talk about what it's actually like to own the real F1 car for the road. It's well worth a watch below.
