One-off Pagani Huayra Epitome to make world debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Just when you think a Pagani model has been retired, Horacio and his team in Modena have a habit of reviving it with a bang, and how it's the Huayra's turn with the one-off Epitome. Produced by Pagani's Grandi Complicazioni division, somewhere between Tailor Made and SP in Ferrari speak, who look after special projects, the Epitome is a commission from a no-doubt very good customer, which brings more power, new styling and a manual gearbox — something never offered throughout the Huayra's production.
The twin-turbocharged AMG V12 now produces 864hp and 811lb ft, up from the original Huayra's 730hp and 738lb ft respectively, all going through the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual gearbox from Xtrac, a triple-disc clutch and motorsport-derived driveshaft and an electronically controlled differential. So performance and involvement shouldn't be an issue, and a 'six-way titanium exhaust system should keep your ears happy too!
A new active suspension system features a 'super soft' mode to make the car drivable and compliant over rough roads, which I feel more sports and supercars should have as some things are just too stiff to really enjoy on the road without being thrown around and shaken to bits.
I think Pagani have nailed the styling here. It's full-on with clear influences from the BC and R models, but somehow the result is even more classy and flowing than those cars. The biggest change is a heavily redesigned rear bumper with fixed wing, and this is where you can see that exhaust, with the typical Pagani four pipes but also an additional two down the bottom! The wheels are bespoke forged aluminium pieces, so mind those kerbs!
Unfortunately, there's only one and I can't imagine its owner and creator giving it up any time soon, and I also can't imagine what it cost!
