Manthey Racing turn the wick up on the already bonkers Porsche 992 GT3 RS with extreme downforce and suspension upgrades.
Manthey Racing are well known for turning Porsches up to 11 with carefully designed suspension and aero upgrades, but when the 992 GT3 RS was launched with its colossal rear wing and fully customisable suspension, I think we all wondered if there was anything they could do with it. Well, we were wrong to wonder, the Manthey Racing 992 GT3 RS package is here, and it ain't cheap!
About as obvious as a slap to the face is the aero kit which is reported to increase downforce from 860kh to 1,000kg at 177mph! There's a new lip spoiler, carbon canards, dive plans and redesigned Gurney flaps as well as the aero disc wheel covers that have become synonymous with Manthey builds to help reduce air resistance. Roof fins help to send air more smoothly to the rear whilst also pushing hot air from the front radiator away from the intake, and there's a much more aggressive rear diffuser. Most controversially of all, the rear window has been replaced by a huge carbon panel with an equally huge carbon shark fin (think F1 F Duct) which joins the equally huge rear spoiler, with even bigger end plates. It's all very huge!
Underneath, there are increased spring rates on the semi-active coilover suspension with new shock absorbers and variable damper tuning, and it should stop too thanks to upgraded racing-spec brake pads. What about the engine? Well, Manthey haven't actually touched that, and the 518bhp naturally-aspirated flat-six remains as it left Porsche, which is fine by me.
You're probably wondering what scarcely believable time it has set around the Nurburgring, and, well, it hasn't. Unfortunately Manthey haven't been able to attempt a full-speed lap yet due to poor weather conditions, but given the normal car's time of 6:49.3, it's safe to say blink and you'll miss it, especially when you consider Manthey's upgrades shaved 8.5 seconds off the lap time of the 991 GT2 RS, and on paper at least, the upgrades here look even more comprehensive and extreme.
Deliveries start from January 2025, and with Manthey being owned by Porsche, you can order the kit from any Porsche Centre in the UK, as long as you have a 992 GT3 RS and (from) £99,999 for the upgrades!
