Supercar Driver members get a rare glimpse behind the scenes of Eagle E-Types, witnessing their famous creations in build.
If you’ve ever gazed longingly at a Jaguar E-Type and thought, “It’s perfect, but…”, then Eagle E-Types has the answer. Based in the countryside of East Sussex, Eagle has spent the past three decades redefining the E-Type for the 21st century, while still maintaining the soul of the ‘60s icon.
Recently, Eagle opened the doors of their wonderful production facility to Supercar Driver members, giving us a taste of the passion and skill, the combination of old-world craftsmanship and modern engineering, that makes their cars so special.
Eagle began life as a specialist in restoring original E-Types to their former glory, but it wasn’t long before they realised they could take things further. Much further. Their work has evolved into creating bespoke cars that blend vintage aesthetics with modern-day performance, and, quite importantly when it comes to old British cars, reliability. The result is something that looks every bit as beautiful as what would adorn a bedroom wall poster in the '60s, but that won't leave you slack-jawed with disappointment when you get behind the wheel.
Eagle doesn’t churn out cars like a factory. Each creation is essentially a hand-built masterpiece, with thousands of hours by passionate crafstmen tailoring each to the whims of its owner.
The Speedster is an open-top work of art with subtly enhanced lines that somehow make the original E-Type look a little shy. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a re-engineered straight-six engine with the most wonderful soundtrack. Underneath is aluminium monocoque body, modern suspension and modern brakes, so you have all the '60s aesthetics without the '60s drawbacks.
Then, there’s the Low Drag GT — a nod to Jaguar’s lightweight racing heritage which Eagle calls the ultimate grand tourer. Think of it as an an E-Type on steroids, with all the right curves and and a power-to-weight ratio on par with a new Porsche 911 Turbo!
Buying an Eagle is more than a transaction; it’s an experience, and that's what visiting this amazing facility shows. Prospective owners aren’t just clients — they’re co-creators. Every detail, from the leather stitching to the gear ratios, is discussed and decided in partnership with the team. Want a car that matches the shade of the sunset on the Amalfi Coast? Done. Prefer a slightly firmer brake pedal feel? They’ll sort it. Eagle’s approach is all about crafting cars that feel as personal as your fingerprint.
Eagle’s caters to those who value art and craftsmanship as much as outright performance. Those who want to celebrate a golden age of motoring, but won't settle for nostalgia alone — they want all the beauty of the original in a package that actually drives the way they dreamed it would as a child.
