Buying Christmas gifts is harder than ever. Remember back in the day when you could buy someone a book, a CD and some DVDs (or maybe a cassette and VHS if you’re getting on a bit)? Now, with Kindle, Spotify and Netflix, the majority of your stocking-filling ideas are no more, leaving you rattling your brain for hours and cursing the modern world.
Thankfully, we petrolheads still appreciate tangible things, whether it’s a cool trinket, something useful or something to mark a memory on the garage wall. With that in mind, here are some of our Christmas gifting ideas for petrolheads, from the ubiquitous pair of socks through to truly special commissions.

It’s only right we start with the ultimate Christmas present. It doesn’t matter how far you’ve gone in life, you always need more socks, and why not have those socks inject a bit of fun into your day? Heel Tread’s designs range from legendary racing liveries to iconic cars and even some more classy designs like Porsche-style pepita, and generally sitting between £12 and £14 a pair, they won’t break the bank for a bit of Christmas fun.

They even sell matching coasters and vintage style signs for the garage, but these mugs are something different that will put a smile on your face, even if you’re just sipping a brew in the office, and at just over a tenner, they’re another affordable option.
If you have the budget for something a little more extravagant along the racing theme, the world of memorabilia is one you could lose yourself in for hours. Helmets, race suits, wheels, wings, even broken off wing mirrors with a story to tell. The possibilities for any budget are endless, and whilst they’re a nice addition to any petrolhead’s office or man-cave, their history and stories could make them a tidy investment too.
You can always find a gift for a petrolhead by looking at their car and thinking what you could accessorise it with. The most wallet-friendly option has to be a keyring (unless you’re looking at the official Ferrari store, that is!), and given how they sit in our pockets getting worn, a new one is always welcome. I haven’t chosen anything specific here, but take the idea and get Googling, whether it’s something classy or something cool like Porsche’s 3D brake disc.
My dad always used to say “Happiness is a clean car”, and he’s got a point. We encourage you to use your car as much as possible to create those lasting memories, but in the process, we concede your car will get rather mucky. These are a world away from the Buragos I used to pester my dad for as a kid, whenever we went to a shopping centre.
